Found A Pet?
Have you found an animal that appears to be someone’s lost pet? Here are some tips to help that friend get home!
What can you do if you’ve found an animal that needs assistance finding their way home?
If they have a collar with contact information, safely get that information and call every number listed, leave voice messages, AND text as well.
Call a local vet or police department and see if they can scan for a microchip to get owner contact information.
If there is a microchip, you can call that company and report the pet as found, and they will attempt to contact the owner as well.
Call your local police department to make a found pet report.
Call your local animal control and make a found pet report.
Check out local social media groups for lost/found pets. Some local groups on Facebook inclulde Lost/Found Dogs/Cats Dupage & Kane County Illinois and Lost or Found Animals in DuPage County Illinois.
You can also post on NextDoor and other local town/city groups on Facebook.
