Our Mission
Chicagoland Animal Rescue, NFP is organized exclusively for the rescue, care, and adoptive placement of primarily cats. We rescue abandoned and unwanted cats through veterinarians, animal shelters, animal control facilities, and family relinquish. Chicagoland Animal Rescue is a 100% volunteer-run organization. We receive no government funding, and are able continue our efforts due to the generosity of our donors and adopters.
Since starting as C.A.R. in 2003, we have placed in over 2,000 cats in loving adoptive forever homes.
We provide timely follow up on every adoption, giving supportive instruction to make sure the adoption is successful. In the event the adoption does not work out or circumstances deem it necessary to give up the cat, we will take the pet back without question. It is our goal to always be the safety net for our cats.
We promote spay/neuter to reduce the impact of the stray population on local municipalities. If possible, we will also help network these services and/or trap-neuter-return efforts where appropriate.
Chicagoland Animal Rescue maintains a volunteer program to provide all the daily care for our cats sheltered in the Downers Grove PetSmart Charities Adoption Center until they are adopted. Wherever and however possible, we will provide information relating to humane treatment, health issues, best practices in cat care, and low cost spay/neuter programs.
Our cats are examined by a veterinarian, blood tested for FIV and FeLV, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and parasite tested/treated. Adopters are provided with medical records, a rabies certificate, and information to help introduce the cat to their home. We also provide information about the cat that we have learned through foster and daily interaction by our volunteers.
